[quote=mototech;1379080]Sorry if this has been posted before but i was just browsing about and seen i personaly think it looks sweet what does everyone else thing.?

Sadly it is just an artistic impression made up by someone on the Raptor & Rockets website. The image at least 12months old. It's basically a photoshop job using the SV and a GSXR. I don't like it and would be very disappointed to see something like this. For the next SV I expect USD forks, far far better brakes, probably an underslung can (not stubby) and at the very least a new frame. Something tells me it'll have a larger bore too to keep up with the competition (shiver/ street triple) and Euro 3 emissions. Possibly a 700 or 750cc twin.

Fingers crossed.

Raptors and Rockets is a mediocre online magazine site, it's just a photoshop mockup with no more credence than if I'd done it. It's an SV with a few styling cues from the current italian nakeds. Doesn't mean it's not right of course, their mockups are usually pretty wide of the mark though.

Yes, it's a photoshopie. They were wise to use the Suzuki mentality though of recycling parts from gixxer (the exhaust & wheels) and a busa front headlight. Very Streetfighterish. I like it. Drop in Gixxer forks and presto, another winner! Suzuki take note please. We want this to happen.

But this would take the SV away from the very market it is aimed at. i.e. cheap and excellent introduction to big bikes. I dont think that Suzuki is going to abandon a model type that sells so well.

I would point out that I would love Suzuki to bring out a bike like the one you describe.

maybe there is a market for people that want to move up from the SV without getting a supersports bike>?

There does seem to be a bit of a gap between 'reasonably sporty' bikes and 'holy crap' sporty. Probably because manufacturers don't want to be seen making bikes that aren't at the top of their game. All the manufacturers say Britain is unique as a market in that supersports is a much bigger market by far than in Europe.

How much more is a GSXR600 than an SV? The new 600 has the power selector switch this year doesn't it? I don't think people would go around on a new 600 in low mode just cos they thought they didn't want a full on bike though haha

Maybe they will and maybe it'll be an SV750/800.

The SV650 won't be a My First Big Bike for much longer - I remember reading somewhere that the EU are kicking in and demanding a limit of 500cc - can't remember when they propose to introduce this (hope it wasn't MCN). When they do, maybe there'll be a cheap SV500 and a bigger version 750/800 for grown-ups?

I spent a minute googling and found this from here

http://www.eyeonspain.com/news/archive-24092007.aspx

Quote:
Spain to Raise Age Limit for 500cc Motorbike Licence
According to a report on a Spanish news website, the government is planning to revise regulations governing driving licences in Spain, to limit full licences for larger motorbikes to those over the age of 24. The measures announced to Congress would include limiting licences for 125cc bikes to the age of 16, and for up to 400 cc, to the 18 year olds. A licence for a 500 cc bike would only be granted at the age of 24, with at least two years experience with a smaller bike.
The Minister told the Road Safety Commission in Congress that the 53% rise in traffic fatalities this summer is mainly due to motorbike accidents, and said 88% of the motorbikes involved were 500cc or more. He did point out that fatalities were 14.3% down between 1st July 2006 and 30th June 2007, compared with the same period in the previous year.
As I said, I'm sure I read elsewhere that the EU has something to do with this.
