Well it seems all my ranting worked, the tanker drivers have gone back to work, although they will be balloted about the revised offer. It seems to have pleased most folks.

most degrees in this country are uslless and dont show any proof of higher inteligence. I always Laugh at the fact that i earn far more than 99% of my degreee educated mates from school. And when i leave the forces i will be able to get a well paid comms job , comms bores the tits off me but pays well. At the moment i am studdying to get on my FofS course where i will spend 20 month back in full time education to get a degree in telecomunications.

Look uni's about far more than getting pi$$ed, it's a whole other world of drunkenness, it's an education in benders that anihillate whole weeks and cook your liver faster than a hamster's in a microwave.

Some people actually do degrees which will enable them to do a job which requires that amount of training, there are a few things which can't be done without understanding the theory. Fair enough that's a small minority, but don't make the mistake of thinking that everyone at uni is there doing sociology and bovine excrement studies.

The experience does count for a lot, I've dealt with quite a few folk with management degree's, and all the ones I've seen, including 4 who lasted less than 6 months at my dads firm couldn't manage their way into a stupor in a crackhouse.

Also... intelligence vs degree... all studying improves is knowledge, which is learnt. However I don't know what study found that, as it did seem to me that at my school, the one's who went to uni could all hold a conversation, whereas none of the neanderthal/chav-spackers wanted to. I can see there being a slightly higher IQ among people with degrees, but that doesn't mean the degree makes them intelligent.

I agree in essence to all you have said but there is a 'But'.....

Does that mean those with a degree actually possses any 'sense' ? Sadly, it would seem not many

in my lab almost everyone has PhDs, that would suggest intelligence. about a third of these people have absolutely no common sense at all! however the rest of us do. intelligence and common sense are not mutually exclusive.
