Default Re: £1.50/day to park in Westminster

My comments to Westminster:

Quote:
I am stunned that the council sees fit to try and tax a congestion easing mode of transport.

If this does go ahead, I expect to see a good service offered for the further £50 a month that I will have to pay to the council.

I assume (perhaps ignorantly) that these services would be in place by the time the fee is introduced. I would also like to see further details issued of these said “ground anchors” and how they are to work.

Will the council also be limiting the number of spaces per bay? More specifically; currently as many motorcycles as there is space for can park in a bay. This means that owners who care less for their bike than I do for mine will take a gap to small just to park, resulting in my motorcycle being scratched or knocked over. This adds again to the cost of motorcycling – I care for the motorcycle that I have spent years saving up for. Will these limitations be signposted? How will they be managed?

Has case of short stay parking been considered? I often have to leave work to travel to other parts of the borough for short meetings. Will my £1.50 cover me in this case as well?

Will the council be adding to the police presence for this fee? Will I be able to feel secure in that my motorcycle will not be stolen or vandalised when parked in a paid for bay?

I would like more information on this please.

Good work Mr A.

As FF said lets u know what hey come up with. Her lot never even replied to the letters i sent them so lets hope they do a better job that her lot did

Now i know if it had been the Fizzy one herself she'd have dealt with it in a highly proffesional manner, shame her emplyoers dont have the same courtesy.

Just a quick question for those of you (Spidey!!!) that enjoy shafting Westminster regards charges and tickets most of the time.

1- Secure parking - in making this available (or not as the case may be), is Westminster accepting liability for loss or damage to our bikes now that we have to pay a management fee to park in thier bourough.

2- If they are not liable then why charge us for 'safer parking'

3- is there any legal standpoint here or any prescident set, whether in Uk or european courts?

Oh well, that's a bit of a bugger.. I still havent had a reply from them.

Anywho... any guess as to how much money they will make over the first few weeks from fines for unpaid motorcycle parking? I reckon they will have to remove quite a few abandoned scooters as well...

Does this mean we will have to pay when parking in Soho?
