Must be some odd shaped tanks on this forum if you think you can get more fuel in with the bike leaning on its sidestand.
I nearly always fill up sitting on the bike and I get a fair bit more fuel in that way. And I keep my lid on as I dont go to the garage to socialise with the staff there, and I dont need to waste time taking kit off and putting it on again.

admittedly even tho i sit on my bike when i fill it up, i always remove me lid as a common courtesy thing, some checkout girls do feel a bit uneasy when you go in with ya lid on and with good reason too.

![]() You take all that off just to buy fuel! I sit on mine wip the gloves off leave em on the yoke and pay at pump if i can cus it saves me time and i can get a decent amount of fuel in. In 5 years of every day riding ive been told off once for sitting on the bike and thats cus i was in a rough area and the bloke said hed had a lot of kids riding off without paying, which was fine by me as it is no were near my house! ![]() |

Always used to sit on the bike to fill, and I never remove my lid. Why should I, when chavs in hoodies/baseball caps can fill up without uncovering their faces (to say nothing of veiled Muslim females, of whom there are a fair few in the West end of Newcastle).
Now I've got the Viffer, I just stick it on the centre-stand, and have a stretch while I fill ![]() |

I have never had problem, sat on my bike and filling it, then wearing my lid whilst paying, that has been all around the south.
If you don't like it, there are plenty places to fill up, there must about 3-4 petrol stations within a mile of my house. Oh when it bit cold outside I wear a hoodie over my leathers, normally a black one. |
