A car would do better.
I find my riding style makes negligble difference to the fuel consumption on my bike. I seem to get the same whether I keep the throttle constant at 70mph on a motorway or ride like a tw*t and risk losing my license if caught.

Yes, I can, to within a certain tolerance. Considering that I have not had over 95 miles for months, it's pretty conclusive. 110-120 miles to a tank seems the norm for most people, both here and over on svportal.

Thirsty ol things them v twin thousands ain't they. It's annoying is it not that such a small little fault can have such a drastic effect in that way. Glad you found and resolved your problem.

I'm pleased you managed to find a 10% improvement at no cost. Only wish I could do the same...

There are many factors that affect fuel economy; keeping teh bike at too-low revs means the valves are open for too long when you give it more throttle, which is inefficient. obviously huge throttle openings are bad, and riding at high revs is also quite bad.

I managed 120 miles from 11 litres on the bandit i'm riding, that was because of 100 miles of motorway riding. Normaly, by 120 miles on that thing, i've used 14 litres - 2 more than I use on my SV650

town riding is not good for economy

i want a thou though

My storm only does 175 miles to the light and it has a 22 litre fuel tank and is brand new so I think 105 + on an SV1000 is fine for average use.

They eat fuel if you start having fun and there is no way you can resist frequently opening them up as they sound sooooooooooo good.

Another way to think your fuel economy is great is to buy a thirsty cage. I bought a cheap 5 Series with a 3 litre enging in it a while ago so anytime i go on the bike i think its really economical as its doing more than 23mpg.

unfortunatly, I compare everything to my SV, which has really good economy. I wa pretty deflated to find that bandits had crap fuel economy, i thought they would be pretty good. Although it could just be the courtesy bike i have

I know the thou' is thirsty, so i cant complain if i buy one

My Bandit was almost exactly the same on fuel economy as the SV I've replaced it with, although it was an '03 Bandit 600, not one of the new 650 versions.

I'd like the thou instead of the 650, but the V-strom is interesting me greatly after reading about it
