It's ok, the steaming up of lenses isn't a permanent fault. In fact, you can just wipe them clean

Hmm £50 per hour isn't bad for studio time, not bad at all. Normaly the real cost comes with the prints or the copywrite. I was in a studio a few years back and the tog was like "yeah a 8x6 print will cost you about £34" in jessops they cost 3.99 on the best paper and I used to get them for 99p on my staff D, markup madness!!!! I say be interested if the price for prints is on the level the studio time certainly is

Just to present the other side, most studios spend a fair amount of time retouching pictures for print, to make sure they are perfect. There's a lot more work goes in than just printing it. This is the reason behind the high prices.

for an A4 print, retouched and edited as appropriate a photographer should never charge any more than £10 IMHO because its just robbery. if your a dab hand at photoshop an edit should take you no more than 5-8 mins per pic and id edit my work so its the best it can be before i give it out. ive seen £60 - £80 for A4 or 12x8 prints.. £10 is more than reasonable and it encourages the buyer to buy more + they have already paid studio time.

i had a similar debate on purestorm.. the argument was "what about us" i say if your work is good and the price is good, word spreads you will make more in a year than a photographer that is extortionate.. i say leave the expensive extortionate prices for magazine work and stock shots not with the public. this is all in my own opinion of course

I wasn't disagreeing I just wanted to show that there is extra work done in a photography studio that isn't in a printing lab. People pay premium prices for good work, and if there wasn't a market for this, the studio wouldn't survive. I also think that some of the things they can do, such as fixing closed eyes in an otherwise good image, would take a bit longer than 5-8 mins.
