Default Sticky Rear Brake - Any advice?

Hi all, any tips or advice on how to stop my rear brake sticking? It works fine when applied, but sometimes just doesnt want to release for a while.

I was wondering if this was a problem any one else has had, and if they had any advice on what to do before i take it to a garage.

My bike is a K3 2004 SV650S

you need to get all the crap out from round the pistons time for a strip and rebuild not a hard job also as your at it it may be worth doing the pads as well

either

a) remove brake pedal
b) cut brake hose

Some idiot is going to say "How will that fix it"?

simples, if it cannot be applied, it isn't going to stick on in the first place

Easy solution, get an old tooth brush and a spray tin of brake cleaner then use these to clean the pistons.

Is it the brake itself thats sticky or just the pedal?

Wouldn't have thought it was the pedal, it is spring loaded.

It is but if the spring gets weak and/or the bearing gets gummed up it can stick.

Good point, no bearings in the pedals though so it won't be that part.

Hinge then. Or better, pivot. That moving bit wot sticks when full of gummy stuff. Mine got a bit gooey at one point altho it never actually got stuck.
