Thanks for all your replys.

Has anyone used one of the 12V jump packs normally used on a car to jump a bike? I guess it is safe to use one of these, if it's safe to jump from a car battery.

Thanks,
Paul

Yes, that's what the AA used when mine ran out of electricity

May be, because I also have a 1 year old Oxford Maximiser 360T which cost me £35 and it's a piece of s**t, it worked ok last year but this year it kept telling me my battery was poor - on a 1 year old SV I don't think so.

Beware of the Maximiser 360T's there are reports on the net they are unreliable and they sell for up to £55+.

i think a optimate was the best thing i ever bought, kept my very dead battery alive for a long time in the end i had to bite the bullet and buy a new battery think the battery cost me £50 but an optimate is very worth the money

£19.99 works for me after nackin a battery with a cheap Argos charger
Decided to go for this in the end, cos I'm a tight wad.

Charged my battery yesterday for a couple of hours and it did the trick for now. Tootled of to the MOT station and got a new ticket. It's brass monkeys out there I'll tell thee.
