GotD - modern farming. On the whole it ain't farming any more. It's an industrialised process carried out by a certain number of arrogant knobheads who think that
1. unless you are farming you should be living in the city, 2. that no-one should be allowed to complain about the mess and destruction of the natural world by these so-called custodians of the countryside, and 3. Animals are purely units of production and not sentient creatures capable of feeling pain and fear. |

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Sun came out, went for a ride...
... and got a puncture in my near new Road 5 (GSX) rear tyre I didn't notice it until I got home - I saw some road debris in one of the tyre grooves but when I went to flick it off my finger nail caught on it. I tried to pull it out with pliers but it snapped off. It didn't seem to be losing pressure but when I sprayed it with soapy water it frothed up. Off comes the wheel, call local (Yam) dealer and they said they'd take a look. They plugged it while I waited and the wheel is now back on the bike. The country lanes are full of thorns where the farmers have been hedge trimming. It's funny (not really) but it's been years since I have had punctures but now have had 2 in 2 months. Maybe I should have stuck with Avons.

I had a few punctures with Michelin tyres when I had them on the bike. Same with the car. The tyre fitter told me Michelins are prone to punctures. Not sure I believe him or whether it is just bad luck.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
I got one in the sidewall of a rear tyre on the car last weekend, from hedge trimmings. They are meant to clear the road within 2 hours, but who's gonna make them? Another £200 on a tyre....
