Default Where to buy new SV650 in the UK?

Hey all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place - this is my first post.

I've started my DAS course and should have a license within a few weeks (knock on wood). I've had several bikes but never managed to actually get anything beyond my learners license (Canadian licensing system).

Anyway it is time for me to buy an SV.

Preferably a dealership within 3-5 hours but the closer the better. Recomendations of gear, helmets, insurance providers etc would all be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jude

I wouldn't go that far!!! you should read some of the REALLY moronic comments on here (most of them from yours truly!!)

Sorry I can't help you really, living in Oxfordshire, I think that you'd find a better deal nearer!

happy hunting!

try 'the bike people' on Marshgate in Doncaster (not to far for you) near the prison.

Have a scan through Motorcycle News (MCN) - lots of adds for dealers in there.
As for gear, try & go for decent quality stuff. Helmets are approved to certain standards, so as long as they have the relevant mark (either a gold or silver sticker I think ) then they'll do the job. Any extra money is probably going towards it looking better, being lighter, quieter, etc.
Fabric bike gear is OK - you can wear it all year round without worrying about the rain, whereas with leather you'll need some sort of waterproofs to go over them. Having said that, leather gives you a feeling of greater security (well it does for me )
Buy a copy of RIDE magazine - they're always reviewing kit, and if you email them they'll send you a spreadsheet with most of the results of their tests for the last couple of years.
And best of all - go to the Bike Show at the NEC in November - you can try on lots of gear until you find something is comfortable, and might even get a discount

Good luck with the DAS, especially the U-turns

Default All the help.

Thanks all. Will follow up all that has been suggested. So far I've mastered the U turns.....ok so I've mastered them on a 125 - it's a start!

Really looking forward to the show in November - I had no idea.

See you in the forums,

Jude

Every SV is cheap mate, they`re good value even if you pay the list price.

I`m off to the NEC on the 9th if you wanna have a go on my bike round the car park.
