Default I feel like blubbering like a baby...

My week so far... the shortened version...

I decide to replace the bolts on my bike with my nice shiney new stainless ones. I manage to round one off. Bugger. No worries I will replace it later. I carry on, socket shatters. Bl**dy cheap tools. Get ear bashing for spending all evening in the garage. Lunch break the next day I go to Halfords to get 'Professional' socket. Wait 10 mins for spotty herbert to open the cabinet. Wait another 10 mins at till while the biggest woman I have ever seen struggles with the till. Get to bike, someone has keyed my tank. Yes thats right, keyed my tank. I almost pass out with rage (and hunger). Head to work, I need fuel. Bugger. Wait 2 mins for spotty herbert number two to turn on pump. Go to pay. Card is refused! wha...! Spend next 10 mins filling out forms and being told if I don't pay up within 24 hours the police will be called. Get to work (same old same old)

I have new tools! so I carry on with the bike! Bugger! bolt head shears off! there'a a bit of thread left so I give it a good soaking with WD40 while I plan my next move. I can't resist trying another bolt... *snap* oh no! I must be having a nightmare this can't be happening. I give up.

Next day, I hatch a plan... I shall use a screw extractor... 'easyout' I borrow some good sharp drill bits from work. I worry that my drill bit may snap... it doesn't... phew... I insert my screw extractor... I turn... *snap* Holy sweet Jesus! noooooooooooooooooo! My hardened tool grade steel extractor is now buried in the centre of the screw. I give up. Again.

Today. I had to take the car. I could feel the life being sucked out of me while I sat stuck in traffic in the A2. Got home at had a look at the bike laid up in the garage. I felt like crying. Now seems like a got time to do all those little jobs that need doing on the bike. Looks like it might take a while.

What bolts broke? radiator mount bottom one (next move - remove rocker cover)

Brake hose P clip mounting LHS fork leg (next move - remove wheel and attack with drill from other side)

Oh if anyone else says to me "If it ain't broke don't fix it" I will explode....

Another tail of woe... Yes the bolts Suzuki use are actually made by the man on the moon (out of cheese)

Sorry to hear about this spell of bad luck.

Just out of interest, how old is your bike and has it been out in all weathers such as rain and salty roads?

Very common, don't faff about removing the cam cover, just drill straight through and fit a nut and bolt, grease well.

Same goes.

You could drill out the remains and fit a helicoil, but it's too much trouble for small items such as you mention.
