This is probably the route that Speirs took you on. It's pretty good but a bit short.

It's a nice ride to Ruthin, leading to more nice roads and a good day out... it's a **** ride to Long Itch (for me anyway) to then just turn around to come back to some ok roads which I ride all the time. I'm willing to go a bit further for something that's worth it, I don't want to go miles out of my way just to come back and ride my local roads.

Ignore the feckin' weather forecast until you get out of your pit on Saturday morning and look out of the windows.
We are such a comparatively small island that the weather forecasters don't have a clue more than 12 hours in advance. They are looking at something that's happening over the Atlantic or the North Sea and it completely changes once it hits land. I know one of the Scottish BBC forecasters and she admitted that in Central Scotland because there is only 50 miles between the Forth and Clyde Estuaries (essentially east to west coast) that more than 4 hours in advance they actually don't have a clue. It's all guesswork. That's why one website can say rain, whilst the other says sunshine, a different person made a different guess. Look out of the window in the morning, then I've found that Rain Today website someone posted on here is really useful, then decide if you are going to do the rideout.
