All i can say is it better win me a few races this season!

Will be up for sale end of this year...this will be the only bike i have owned that i will cry about when it goes....

Chunks bike is on that site too..Tim Churchill. Thats a similar spec to mine.

You might know Paul Barlow and Martin Cooper who raced 600's???. They race in Thunderbikes too..great guys!
£10k ouch ... never mind looking like one, you could have bought a GIXER thou!!

Ok so this is Chunky's bike http://www.thunderbikeuk.com/team_info.php?team_id=11; ... er its er ... the same?!?! does he dress like you too?!!? (Sorry chunks, couldn't resist ) Has his bike been on the dyno?

Yes I know Paul Barlow, he knocked me off once!!!

Just imagine him doing the same to you on your pride and joy ... ohh I am getting the shakes here just thinking about what you would do to him!!!

Yes thats Paul!. I would say he is a little brave when it comes to overtakes!. . Have had some awesome races with him this year..stuffing him well and truely more than once. Martin is a little quicker than him and have tried to beat him this year..nearly managed it by 0.2 of a second at Brands...this year will be different though

Tim's bike was built pretty much the same as mine, he bought it from John Hall who is now on an SXV motard.. On the dyno its pretty much the same as mine barring it runs total loss - something i couldnt hack on mine as it kept eating batteries and lost me 3rd at Pembrey!.

Its a good crowd in the Thunderbikes...no matter what you ride its a good crack and always a good battle to be had. Worth just throwing caution to the wind and having a go anyway..see if you can find it fun..i am sure without the pressure of trying to be competitive you would enjoy it.

Trouble with that theory is that you then have to spend another 10k to get the gsxr competitive.

As for the same....I say it is in general terms but sarah wont ever say it is otherwise she'll have to change her signature!!!

As for dressing the same? Not totally as i'm a bigger cup size and the Thongs just chafe like you wouldn't believe

What we've got here is... failure to communicate.

chunky, if you were doing a thou in thunderbikes wouldn't your first £1000 be spent on sleeving it down and fitting smaller injectors to make it legal

Yes, thaty was Mandy. Her bike cartwheeled and landed tank first on to my pelvis. Hence the broken bits and trouble walking

But if you can't handle the concept of that potentially happening, then you are in the wrong game, so in events like that I did get grumpy, but all you can do is just suck it up and get on, so thats what I did

What I didn't like is the people that are just dangerous … come across plenty of them in my time - especially running in the 'axe-murderer's' class

Thunderbikes just doesn't grab me I am afraid. Like I said, I am not into making friends at a meet, I just want to go out there and beat as many people as I can and get as respectable laptimes as I can ... the harder I have to try, the harder they are trying and the more equal the bikes, the more rewarding it is ... I am not going to find beating a bike I have no direct comparison against as rewarding as another minitwin ... minitwins regs mean that if I threw about a grand at my #1 bike I could have a top spec minitwin bike … that is within my means …

However, I wanna get out there and see how I get on as it is, there is no point spending ~£1k on my bike to get 20th place over 21st, I'd rarther spend it elsewhere … but I will if spending £1k gives me a fair chance I might be stepping on the podium, thats another matter!! I think if I can get to within ~2 seconds of the winners time on my bike as it is, then it is worth the investment to see if I can knock the lions share off that with proper suspension and a max HP engine, the rest I might be able to get by gritting my teeth and digging deep. If I am in the running, I always seem to be able to find that little something extra; I am always very hungry for the podium!! If I am 4 seconds off the pace, I am wasting my money!! Can you see where I am coming from?

They do look the part I have to admit … but hang on … you spent ~£10k on a bike in your rookie year?!!? OMG!! You must have deeeeeeeeeep pockets dude!! Good on ya if you have!

well maybe not 10K but here a quick run down for you of essetials as i see it for a top 5 runner in powerbikes.

shock- £600
25mm cartridge kit -£800
2 sets of light wheels - £2000~
brembo discs for both wheels - £1000(yes they really are £250 each )
fairings - £300
head work and thin head gasket - £450~

so there you go even in the basic set up costs to be as competative as you've said you'd want to be your looking at over 5k. and bear in mind i havent even added things like reasets clip on's subframes and fainrg brackets etc etc. 10K is not a massive leap to make.

And no i didnt spend that much on my bike....someone else did ....I bought it for 4.5K

My point is - is all that necessary in Powerbikes!?!? - the stock ones straight out of the box are more than most can master?!!? ... Case in point I used to regularly run in the top 5 or 6 in powerbikes on a supersport regulation 600!!! as did some of my other fellow 600 competitors ... the front guys were always untouchable, but the depth of field really wasn't that great!!

I think if you want to win at powerbikes (well Forza now) though, yep, you need to throw some money at it ... as the front guys are f-fast!! ... and indeed even £10k could easily evaporate if you do the job properly

As for your bike ... Ahh ... That is a lot of bike for £4.5k then but you could have got a stonker of a minitwin too for that?!!? why did you choose Thunderbike over minitwins? (Don't 'read into' this, its just curiosity why you went that route, I have given the rationale for my choice ).
