When checking the oil level, should the max be bang on the line, or is a bit above ok? Second, how do I go about getting rid of a little?

Is your clutch cable setup right? If its still a little engaged when pulled in then that could be the issue.

With the bike upright it should be between the two lines, if its over the top line then you have to much oil in the bike.

Easiest way of letting a little out is to undo the oil filter and then let some trickle out.

If you undo the sump bolt you'll have a gush before you know it... dont ask me how I know this though...

Ok, I don't however have a filter wrench, is it really needed?

Give it a try by hand, you never know.

I use a chain wrench, which crushes them to the point that I wouldn't reuse, also tried a strap wrench, which crushes them as well. And battered a screwdriver through a stubborn one. And completely ripped melodys to bits because it was very stubborn indeed.

So could go either way really.

I know, but like I say, its hard to unscrew the filter without the tool without maching it.

Try it by hand before you buy the tool, it might come off you never know.

Chris, you would be right, won't budge for love nor money. Also, ran the engine for a couple of minutes then checked the oil level, once held upright I can't even see where the oil is up to as the whole glass view is black!!!! So guess that means too much oil.

Think it may involve a trip to a garage, as I'm useless with a spanner and don't want to do any damage.
