I looked seriously at the Transalp when deciding on my first big bike, ultra comfy, totally bombproof and will never break. Looks are maybe not to everyones taste but i personally think they look great.

You'll rarely see a bad word said about the Alp. Only thing is, if you were set on a thou then the Transalp is going to be lacking in grunt in comparison. Great commuter though and pannier and accessory range is extensive.

Also, what about the Varadero Thou? Another great bike.

I initially looked at the Transalp in my local bike shop, but the salesman was quoting something rediculous on finance, especially compared to the SV at the time so I did not even bother with a test ride, think i'll go and look at some tomorrow morning on the way to footy.

As for the thou, I am not really looking for extra speed / power, I hardly ride the SV to anything like it's potential, i'm a 6 - 8k rev tops unless I need to get away from some cars at lights. The V-Strom 1000 is in the mix due to 2.5 years 0%, as well as me reading some cracking reviews, ho hum.....

Transalps are great bikes, I had one for a week in Crete and it was a great allrounder. But yes, not grunty compared to an SV650 say. Mind you the one I had was a tad knackered I reckon.
