Yeah, the other definitely does, he's a loon!

Sorry to here about this mate, sounds really nasty. Big respect for the 'self-rescue', must have been hurting like a bitch all the way home. Looking on the bright side, it's not too serious!

Rest up, heal up and get yourself sorted, we gonna miss those pics from Appalachia.

Jesus. I've been fortunate enough to never have experienced the front cylinder failing, but by crikey it sounds like something it should have been recalled for.

Get well soon.

Thanks to all for the well wishes!

Good News!!!
Just back from the bone specialist and he says no operation for now and seemed positive that we would be as just as well off to let it heal up on it's on. Go back in 5 weeks for more x-rays.
He says at least 8 weeks to heal.
Will probably be at least that long before I'm able to get the bike sorted so all should work out well.

As for riding it home...
It hurt but...you do what you have to do.
I was in a very remote area, might have been a day or longer before anyone discovered me.
Uprighting the bike was extremely painful (and no doubt worsened my injuries)
but after weighing the options...there was little other choice.

Tis' all good for now though!
(you can tell I'm on pain meds)
Injuries to both me and the bike seem to be fairly minor and hopefully all will be well again soon.
I plan on being healed up in time to make a return trip to the Smokies in Oct.

Got some pics from this trip but may be a few days before I get them sorted.
It was a great trip...all but the last 76 miles.

No mate, hats off to you!

And no sense worrying about the aneurisym, nothing you can do about it. Couldn't hurt to brush up on the old Bible/Koran/Talmud/Dianetics though...

Glad to hear no surgery required, just take it easy and rest for now. Bike can wait as can everything else.

Wow Bannanaman, that really sucks! I have only had the front cyclinder go once on my bike, but it jolted me around a bend so much that I took it straight home again and took the car. So unlucky for you. It sounded like a real survival situation, and I am extremely impressed that you rode home with broken bones!

Now show us the photos of the accident and scenery!
