All that bleeding and greasing must have been really fun.
I'd have rather had a barbeque. ![]() But it's all worth it.. after doing the front you should be able to stop again ![]() |

Not hugely expensive- you can get away with just braided hoses on the front. About £60ish from hel if I remember for mine.
Then you're going to need new piston seals front and back (even if you don't use them, you've got them for next time- if the dust seal is pushing out of the groove, then it may be in bad shape). And some dot 4. I was going to upgrade to a Firestorm this winter if I had the cash, but I may keep the SV for another year and get the shocks upgraded, get it nice and tidy and enjoy it at it's best (that I've had it) for the last year or so of owning it. Will help get the insurance down a bit and the Firestorm appears to have a bit of a petrol habit... |

hopefully not or you'd probably notice it on the disk, anyway.

I like the yellow ones. But then I would.
The only thing I don't like on them is the Cyclops look- I prefer a pair of eyes at the front of the bike. But I guess that's the way it is. Anyway- another year on a >2001 VTR I reckon will drop the price a bit more. I want to get something that's gone past the big service (15/16k) but not huge on miles. I've heard that they only have about an 80k lifespan... |

I cleaned my rears as i thought they had siezed as well disk wearing and pads wearing a lot but didnt overhaul it, decided to do my fronts took me 5 hours (but i did stop every so often so prob took less) to overhaul my my front calipers as both dust seals on the rhs caliper made an apperance when i was cleaning it up, helps loads if you have a compressor and the right blower thing as first caliper i did i pulled the pistons out with towl and some pliery things second caliper my Dad shows me the correct tool for the compressor and out they both poped, great learning experience tho i loved it

When you are putting things back together, when it is bled, wipe some grease into the end of the bleed nipple. The grease goes a bit hard with exposure, but will pop straight out when fluid tries to come out.

Cheers Chris- is that copper grease?
I'll do that when I'm putting the new pads in. I have to say- my riding style changed a lot today, as I have to minimise (read avoid as much as often) using the back brake! Should have new pads this evening or tomorrow though. |
