cheers for the advice viney but the bike is purely a toy to mess around on, i dont do any distance at all really therefore a bit more noise/fuel consumption wont be an issue
thanks though ![]() |

Just make sure you are in right gear...

Having just done a little experiment at the last race meeting by changing the gearing from day one to day two (14T front first day, 15T second day, I thought the bike felt slower on the second day but it actually lapped three seconds a lap quicker (a lot!)
The track is 1.5 miles of twist and turns with two straights so represents B roads perfectly. So if you want to "feel" like the bikes going faster, do the mod. If you want your bike to "Go" faster, don't ![]() C |

Just skim read the thread so apologies if I'm repeating anything.
I dropped a tooth on the front of mine (15 to 14). Accelaretes noticably faster. Didn't touch the rear sprocket or the chain (yes I know I should change them all the the same time). Just readjusted the chain to suit the new sprocket. I'd say well worth doing it for road riding |

thanks toby. thats what i needed to know, does it get a certain amount of revs and stop picking up as fast?
plus if the bike were restricted via the ecu, would this change its output or make the speedo wrong? thanks |

my understanding is the power out put would be the same, the power delivery would just be sharper. Are you aware that by changing the spockets in this way will reduce the overall top speed?

To be honest I havent noticed too much of a change at the top end. Still get's to the rev limiter quick enough!
Managed to hit 120 flat out at Leeming so it can't be that bad. (measured at the wheel). This is why I said I'd recommend it for road riding, how often do you hit 125 mph on the road? I'd rather be able to accelerate faster than have a slightly higher top speed |
