The £35 covers the trainers fees and materials. I'll get the cost of the venue written off as it will be where I work and as a one off event the CEO will OK me using the room free of charge.

This course won't result in you gaining an HSE qualification in the same way you would with a work course. They take 4 days and cost hundreds of pounds per person. They are also very prescriptive on what they have to cover.

The idea of this 1 evening session is to cover for us the sort of injuries and issues we would encounter if one of us had an accident on a ride out or we went to help another biker. But he won't bother chemical spills, miscarriage, strokes, babies choking etc which you have to do on the 4 day course.

CPR will be covered, and as we all know, if your casualty is not breathing then you must remove the crash helmet. No good worrying about aggravating a possible spinal injury or broken bone if the person dies from a blocked airway.

I'd like to do that too - did an SJ course specifically for motorbicyclists a few years ago, (out Bracknell way, with Stig & Dirty Dog), and I think a refresher would be well worthwhile.

I won't be able to organise this before my hols but will look into arranging it once I get back in mid March as it looks like there is enough interest to make it work.

Slight thread hijack, but I'm lined up for something similar in April courtesy of the IoM TTMA and the SJA, as I'm planning to don an orange tabard on the island again this year.

Last time I looked, they still seemed to have slots available in Redhill on Saturday the 9th of April, among others. It's free, and provides a cert that's ACU-friendly, though obviously the point is to train TT marshals rather than just throw resources at random members of the two-wheeled public. Details on the IOMTTMA web site.

For anyone else, hope you enjoy the course and never have to use the skills learnt!
