Must be really annoying it's that stubborn!
One last thing then - If there is a microscopic nick causing the weep, you can use a thin film of silicone gasket on the joint faces - but a film only as you don't want a lump to form and then break off into the oil.

I'm just concerned that I may destroy the radiator if I try too hard. That's why I would rather take all the variables out of the equation with some new washers.

What would be a maximum "safe torque" for these?

I'm actually watching the clock every minute for the local store to open I couldn't find a "whole tray" on their website but maybe they can advice me in store.

You may want a tube of silicone gasket while there.....

Couple more questions. Can I use copper washers instead? Do I have to torque them higher?

With a bit of luck I did find some matching copper washers at Halfords. Although the washers in the box are different sizes than the one's advertised on the web, I have found a perfect match for M14x20 in the box. If anything, perhaps a bit thicker, maybe 1.8mm.

Torqued them at 20lb/ft and the leak is gone. Didn't have to use silicone either. The only problems is that one banjo has aluminium washers while the other has coppers ... very tempted now ... probably just looking for trouble

Well, it went fine for about 50 miles and then started dripping again. Just as I was starting to go mad, after unsuccessfully applying some black silicone sealant, the almost invisible crack showed. I'm almost relieved after changing 3 sets of washers with the same effect. Looks like I'll be needing a new radiator after all.
