I put my milk in after I take the tea bag out to let it stew.
When I worked in East Anglia one of my off site ops used to make me tea by adding milk and water together and popping in a tea bag, so I could "make it to strength" he used to say. Guy Martin stands by having the milk in first and brewing it that way, but, I tried it and it changes the way the tea tastes IMO and not in a way I like. |

I think the reason for putting milk in first came from the need to stop fine china breaking when the hot tea is poured in. I don't mind either way and also like no milk with a piece of lemon.

Tea-bag in mug - add the milk after
Tea-bag / loose leaf in pot - add the milk first unless I forget, then add the milk after Having milk and tea-bag in the mug at the same just feels wrong to me, doesn't taste great either.
