Thanks for the info, still confused but I am getting their. With goodridge you buy the front set three hoses and the rear set one hose this comes to £134.95. I think I wil go for the HEL.

Does the rear brake share the same break fluid resevoir as the front one?

I know there's something that looks like a rear brake resevoir (which I check religiously), but the manual seems to be pointing at this when it mentions checking the coolant level? Is the coolant level located somewhere else and I've missed it?

the fluid resevoir is behind the right hand seat shroud, take off the rear seat and you should just about see it. to do anything you need to take off the shroud (pain in the ass job. don't forget the two litle screws under the rear tray along side the light fitting.

BTW there are HEL kits available on ebay for £57

The resevoir is easier to get to on the pointy SV... if thats what you've got, you wont need to remove the rear rairing.

Coolant header tank, (the bit with the level window on it), is under the petrol tank on the right.

The reason I was confused about needing two hoses for the rear is because there is a pipe from the master cylinder which goes to just behind the right hand front heel plate then the hose goes to the caliper from their.
Any way there is a guy on ebay selling three hose kits for the sv for £57.50 +5.00 p+p almost £30 cheaper than direct from HEL.

Has anyone bought from him?

Not quite sure what you mean by that description.

There is only one line that goes from the master cylinder to the caliper. The other tube I assume you're refering to disapears from the master cylinder up under the rear fairing? That tube just runs to the brake fluid resevior. Its not under pressure, so doesnt need changing.

The requirement for braided hoses is limited to the pressure side of the master cylinder. The fact that the hoses look nice is a bonus, it is the additional wall strength provided by the braiding to stop the pipes from bulging under pressure that you are paying for

Thanks for all the info
one more thing I may go the whole hog and fit a AP lockeed thumb rear brake (cos I cant use my rear brake) from this I would need to have a fluid cylinder on the handle bars and have a custom made hose to the caliper bypassing the cylinder under the seat. Would this be correct?

Some possible confusion, hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here.
The partially see through container where you can see brake fluid sloshing about is the reservoir. The master cylinder is a rod and piston affair behind the heel plate with a hose going to the rear caliper.
I have to admit, I was confused over this for ages because everyone always pointed to the reservoir on the handlebar and called it the master cylinder, when the master cylinder is just below that in the same unit.
