Mine opens towards me - but I have to ask Prof, how do you fill the bike up without sitting on it? I couldn't get enough petrol into it with it on it's side stand.

Still don't have an issue issue with the hinge though, it's quite easy.
I still haven't learned to ride properly. I use very little petrol and,
after 8000 miles, I am still on stock tyres.

Erm, I don't think having it flipping forwards would be any better when you have a tankbag. Your keys would get in the way surely?

I'm looking at your username and thinking......

So it's true. Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.

Actually, it is my dream to work as a motorcycle instructor and a
tennis coach on alternating days. Unfortunately, I am no good at
either so had to settle for teaching maths.

PS. Going through DAS allowed me to understand my students'
situation better. I used to get upset when my students couldn't
master basic things like the definition of continuity. But having
failed the U-turn on my first two test I became less critical. In
every subject there are things that appear to be simple to the
people who teach them but are hard for the students.

PPS. Still, I would say that doing a U-turn is harder than learning
the definition of continuity.

Was that because you were trying to plot a perfect parabola on the road? Now that would be tough.

I have a 99 and only has 4 bolts to the tank like the one on e-bay, has 7 I think just to make it look pretty, but there are also a couple of lugs so I don't think it can be turned without chopping, opens backwards BTW.
