Extending leads IMO are just a quick fix for people who can't be arsed to actually train their dogs. It's a typical modern solution, to buy some cunning product in preference to putting in the hours, days weeks of work to train a dog to follow commands. Harrumph.

I totally agree with Ken.Those extending leads are a very bad idea. They are often used by brain dead owners who allow their animal to stray across in front of other pedestrians as if everyone should make a conscious effort to get out of the way of their dog. This is most annoying when you yourself are walking your own dog in a controlled manner on a more traditional lead.

Woman round our neck of the woods used her dog to slow traffic by letting
it run all over the road. Had her kids on the main road with signs too
doing the same thing. When I told her she was putting her children in
danger and I would be calling social services she was none too pleasant

Nearly hit the damn dog twice in the car and once on the bike before the
cops stopped her.

To crown it all though they drop the limit on that road to 20 giving the the
impression it's a victory, then she got stopped at 40MPH in the 20 and got
away with a warning FFS ....

I always thought the idea of taking the dog for a walk was to give it some excercise and the way dogs like to excercise is by running off ahead and then running back to you, repeat to fade . If they're forced to trot along at human pace it's no fun and they don't get as much excercise.

I've never had a problem with people who let their dogs roam ahead on extendable leads (while out walking with or without a dog - obviously around traffic is another issue) and to be honest I've always found it funny getting caught up in another dog's lead. They're just so lovably stupid.

I guess it's down to each individual... Kinda like some people like loud cans while others think they're anti-social, some speed and others think it's irresponsible.

Pity it didn't attack the rear wheel, as then you could have performed a burnout and sent sent some of it's fangs flying like tacks .
