Im not sticking up for bad or carless driving, but what if it was a genuine mistake and she panicked, ok so she should have stopped if this was the case, but it happens to everyone, what about fixation blindness or whatever its called?

Mistakes that cause accidents need to be punished, but it could have been a genuine mistake, and we are all aware that its a risk we take!

again, not defending but lets not all jump on the band wagon with everyone who makes a mistake eh?

And not pointing out the error of her ways just reinforces her deviant behavior

No let's, it's so much more fun .

But on a serious note, let's get our priorities right. Anybody can make a mistake, yes I agree, and it's all too easy to panic, again agreed - but the victim is (without question) the biker that nearly got wiped out. The driver of the car deserves at the very least a good stern talking to, and if a NIP and some points on her licence is painful, then maybe it will help to educate her, so that in the future she'll bloody well pay a little more attention to what she's doing, and of course have the common decency to stop and apologize.

Tolerance is a good thing, but over-tolerance is what's making the western world into a very sad place indeed.

You mean she pulls out of a petrol station without even looking, is blatantly aware that she have nearly caused an accident and then accelerates away straight onto a roundabout with cars that are using the roundabout, which themselves have to slow to avoid her....

There is making a mistake and then there is driving like an idiot...if she had of stopped then fair do's....

Well done mate, fair play.

These things cannot just be passed off as "one of those things" or a "lapse of concentration". Too many people think it is the boy racer or rich man in the sports car speeding that kill people but its not. Its the average person going about their daily business and getting too complaceent about the dangers involved with what to them is a daily routine like brushing their teeth.

If people get punished for these things they will tell their friends who will in turn tell their friends and gradually people will start paying more attention. If these people pulled up to junctions and were as scared as we are as we approach them on our bikes then half of these accidents wouldn't happen. The only thing that scares these people are NIPs (mentally planning their shopping list takes priority over the thought that they might kill someone) so if that is what it takes then so be it.

Excellent. People who drive like that deserve what they get.

More such cases (ie NIPS in cases like this) needed please

As i said i don't normally get involved in anything that happens outside of work time, but i can't turn a blind eye on this. I shall see what she has to say for herself...

Well I wish I had your powers yesterday.

I was fifth and last in a queue of fairly well spaced out cars going along an open A road. Some nobber in a laguna estate who was parked facing us on the opposite side in a layby decided to attempt a U-turn between the fourth car and me. Being an estate the turning circle rivals a bus and he didn't just not make it round, he ended up sideways with one front wheel in the ditch and the opposite back wheel about a foot up in in the air! Meanwhile, I've aboslutely slammed on the anchors from 60 to 0 with about 4ft to spare before plowing into his wife on the passenger side. Mitzy ABS and TCL, i love you!

For the next 10 miles he was in front of me, all apologetic and waving in the mirror. What's the point in apologising? It's his wife he should have thought about instead of not waiting a few seconds for me to pass. She looked terrified. Bloody deathwish nobbers.
