What Razor said.....a heavily moded bike will be worth sod all in as px.

And Jelster is right.......try the IL4 route

It's completely reversible though... Also, the bits should hold their value reasonably well, unless you bin it. I flogged the SV parts to offset the cost of the GSXR bits- even with the powdercoated wheels and upgraded master cylinder it only cost me about £200 all in after I sold the bits. But you could just as easily stash the parts for sell-on time.

Also, done right it wouldn't impact resale value as much as you'd think. A big bore definately would, as well as being less reversible (you'd need a spare set of barrels, for one) but since the GSXR swap is almost factory fit there's less to put people off than with most such invasive mods. It's not like, say, a new R1 front on an old R6, which is usually a bodge. I doubt it'd add value, unless you get lucky, but it shouldn't take much if any away either.

Not to say that it's a good idea But it's not a bad idea for that specific reason, if you see what I mean.

I would be the last person to tell you not to mod... But then I would mod any bike as none come out of the factory in any way that I would call perfect. Who could ever stand the sound of an IL4 though?

I like my new sv however bought it mainly due to insurance woes & only gonna keep her for a year or so , therefore only mods I'm considering are hagon fork springs & 15 w oil .
IMHO not work spending a lot of money performace wise . It really depends how much you love the bike & how long you are keeping it though.
Sounds like you are not going keep long enough to get value from the mods , I would just tweak the suspension .

Cheers Steve

In my humble opinion, the tuning/mods route is only worthwhile if you are sure you will be happy to keep your SV for some time (years?) afterwards. I have spent quite a lot of money on my 2001 SV650S; Maxton suspension front & rear (which I rate way above tuning), Micron header pipes with Quill silencer, Factory Pro stage 2 induction and stage 2 cams. I am really still enjoying my SV and a tweak here and there keeps the love affair going strong I intend to keep her for some years to come and it's more likely she will become a second bike rather than sell her. So as far as I'm concerned my money has been well spent. You say your suspension feels tired and I often read similar comments on the forum; the truth is more likely that your skills have improved enough to give the suspension a harder time and now it seems lacking. A sports 600/750 would definately improve the handling situation but in the real world it would not get you from A to B significantely faster than a sorted SV. I've seen too many people get faster bikes and go little or no faster than before, other than in a straight line So, not an answer really, more a bit of fuel on the fire. Should give you a bit more to think about

Ha ha, billy. My bad influence coming back to bite me on the @rse.

I think the sensible option is to get new springs and oil for the front and source a cheap shock for the rear and trade in/sell it a get a sports bike in a couple of years time.

Just not sure if i'm sensible or not.
