As fast as the situation allows me. Called it at 95 in January, 115 in Feb and 120 in March. Though only on an open, clear road with a good view. Mostly I ride at a sensible speed though!!
I don't necessarily think haring around as fast as you can to be the best policy most of the time and I don't really wish to lose the license so soon after I got it. You do seem rather obsessed with Speed, Lylej! ![]() I personally love the tug of acceleration, though the top speed can be rather thrilling! Riding smoothly and in a well controlled way is very satisfying as well, as is getting the bike down further on a corner than before. Funnily enough, I have topped the speed in 3 months on a bike that I ever made in 8 years of driving cars (and only after 8 years- though partly due to the engine size etc) Last edited by thedonal; 13-03-07 at 06:43 PM. |

I had a 33bhp restriction for a while on mine, and you can get 109mph out of it! (Well, on the clock anyway) However you need to be in the airflow of another biker constantly and slightly downhill! ![]() |

i cant see the point of going above 100? once you've done it a few times the thrill hads gone and you greatly increase your chances of killing yourself and others.

If you gave me a machine capable of 300Mph i can honestly say i would do the first run of it and take it to its limit, i have no fear of speed, just of speed on the road i will not top out unless its super clear and i know the road ahead, god help me on the track lol,

I agree with what you're saying to some extent, Kwak. Though there is a buzz associated with going very fast and to me, the 100mph mark does make a difference- anything over that feels significantly faster- I guess different people are affected by different aspects of riding. Though I think chances of killing yourself/others can be at any speed really- it's all about riding to your personal limits/the given situation.
Every time I get off my bike at the moment, I feel like I'm missing something- that I want to still be on the bike enjoying the ride. Especially now the evenings are getting longer and sunnier. |

If it was in a sfae situation, I'd travel as fast as the bike would take me.
I'd rather just take some nice corners reasonably fast than go in a straight line at ludicrous speed tho'! (Reminds me of the bit in Spaceballs: "Ludicrous Speed: GO!!!") |

The gixer has not gone above 147 with me on it, a straight road and it did give me a buzz. It's not the fastest I've gone on two wheels though, that was a few years ago at an indicated 157. Much faster than that and I'd need braking markers on the road.
On the roads I do keep the speed down most of the time to that indicated 'around' the speed limit with maybe the odd hoot. I'm much happier with spirited travel around the twisty stuff. Nearly anyone can go fast in a straight line. Getting off the line as in drag racing (no I don't mean riding in a dress and stilletos or that might be fun for some) for a quick 1/4 mile is a different ball game. |
