well, what you would hope is happening, although we are talking about windows here, but what you would hope what it's doing is seeing how RAM is available, and using as much as it can to make the OS run as fast as possible.
The more stuff in RAM, the faster. Then you would hope... that Windows would notice if that some app like Word or Firefox etc, needs some of this RAM for some reason, and swap out some memory to virtual memory and release it for Firefox. Basically... yeah, that's my guess. Probably nothing to worry about, other than the fact you are running Windows. |

A quick Google leads me to believe that schost.exe is probably a virus. If you meant svchost.exe then you may be able to use the following information to determine what products or utilities are being hosted by svchost. The information is for XP, but I'd imagine it would work on Vista too: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314056. Rob |
