Doesn't bump starting damage the cat? We were advised never to bump start our car for that reason! Maybe we were given twaddlevice??

Isn't there a plunger/activator that can be taped down while you get her started? You know....make her think that her clutch is pulled in?

Bump starting cars can put too much fuel through and damage the cat, but on a bike who gives a ####? you don't need to pass an emissions test.

Yeah but we're on about bump starting where you have to let the clutch out, read the thread man!

Changing tack, before you bump start direct to the starter it's better to have a little bit left in the battery, if its totally flat the spark will be very weak. Yeah I know that eventually the alternator ignitor windings will generate but its better with a bit of battery assist - trust me I've been there.

But the clutch interlock switch AFAIK only inhibits the starter button, not the ignition or ECU (if it inhibited either of those the engine wouldn't run once started with the clutch out), so bodging the switch to pretend like the clutch is pulled in wouldn't serve any purpose... simply pulling the clutch in (which you'd have to do anyway) will disable the interlock.

correct. But somebody said bump start and try the electric start simultaneously, which with the clutch switch in place doesn't seem practical.

Some people advocate this. I've never had a need. Bump in 2nd or 3rd down hill or with a push, No need for the starter or any worry about the safety cut outs.
