Not been up to much with the bike in the recent days, been trying to sort out my cbr for the MOT.
Anyway, I've fitted some proper crash bungs now after the last sent got badly bent. These will hopefully survive a crash, after all I think that's what they're supposed to do! Put some headlight brackets on to hold a number board, maybe a bit of over engineering but hopefully it'll work out well. Sadly I'm still looking for some plastic to make a number board from. The perspex I had just cracked when trying to drill it. Anybody got any suggestions on a source? ![]() |

Looking good. On the bungs - most are design to 'destruct', the idea being to absorb all the impact rather than transfer it to the bike. So bending and shredding is part of that. I'd only ever use bungs again if I had a very low speed drop and only after checking the condition of the bungs and bars carefully for any bending. In fact, I have two sets of bungs and bolts just in case.

Thats a good point Runako, just a shame they cost so much. Hopefully these ones will sacrifice just the bungs and bolts in a crash, I have the old bungs and could find the bolts for a spare set.

Yesterday was hill climb day at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough. The weather was good apart from strong winds but thankfully they were in the right direction to stay sheltered.
I'd recommend it to anyone to have a go, a really great atmosphere in the paddock and in the crowds. I'd done my best to prep for the hill climb but it was soon obvious that more changes would be beneficial: Wider bars for a start! But never the less the times eventually came down to a respectable 52.77 seconds. (The fast boys on supertwins were doing 47-48s) The last run could've been even quicker but I made a mistake into the last corner and lost lots of time. Will definitely be back next year! ![]() My quickest time of the day, still scruffy!
My last run with the mistake:

Do you know what your noise test results are with that can? I'm just about to put the other one onto my curvy for trackday up at Cadwell!

Another trackday, another damp day! Can't complain too much tho. Cadwell was still a good test and even raised a smile whilst bombing around the top end of the circuit.
Unfortunately the gearbox was giving up false neutrals on occasion so it seems the K4 is living up to its reputation of having a chocolate gear change star! Still there is a long winter ahead so can be tackled before next season. No videos this time because my gopro went for a burton whilst out on track! Thankfully the camera was found but needs drying out before I can see if a new one is required ![]() Some pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
