Thanks guys - mucking out only took me half and hour longer than normal this morning - thanks to the application of brute force, ignorance and a bit of string!

Though I couldn't manage to manouver the wheelbarrow once it was full - so someone else got the glourious task of a trip to the muck-heap on my behalf!

Tim - if he was being naughty, yeah, drive him on, but it was just too quick and simply his natural reaction to a wirehaired yappy little predator going for his feet.

As for the woman, I think she was more shook up than I was, and at least she did try to get the beggar on the lead - just not soon enough really. She did say he'd never seen a horse before so I giess she was caught a bit by surprise too. True - she should have used a little more forethought, but that's why they're called accidents - they happen.
I've got her details, but to be honest, I'm not one to subscribe to the trend of the 'blame-culture' - as long as Leo and I are generally OK and I'm not out of pocket, then I see no point in taking things further. Insurance or not, sometimes sh*t happens and you just get on with stuff. I got the impression she certainly will think in future, so that's all good as far as I'm concerned.

The real bottom line is I can now get an extension to the deadline for my latest assignment for Uni...

... Silver lining and all that.

glad you are so upbeat about this. It would be so easy to pull the "I cannot do the mucking out in this condition, please help" bit.

Were you actually on the public highway or a bit of tarmaced track? I dread to think what the outcome could have been if he had decided to get the hell out of here with you clinging on on a public road. I did have one try to bolt on me years ago when some prat sounded his horn for me to get out of his way. When I caught up with said prat outside the boozer a mile up the road he claimed it was to let me know he was there, as if my ears could not hear an engine 5 yards behind me revving away.

It appears you kept your cool, hope she does keep the ankle biter on a lead from now on not that its any use to you.

GWS. Train the horse to boot dogs through the nearest hedge.

That made me laugh too much... I'm thinking of that Simpsons where the Lard Lad comes to life... a dog runs up yapping at it and he just punts it over the horizon with an agonised yelp.
