XP's won the Auto Express 'Accessory of the Year' two years running because they're the best out there.

Philips are the most reliable brand out there for automotive bulbs. Osram - failures every now and then. Definitely seems to be vehicle specific.

Your HID results impress me!

One result, a sample does not make...

Just reporting my own experiences, so far my car has had the OEM bulbs for ~3 years, then went through a set of Phillips and two sets of Osrams in the space of 18 months, now on Halfords for the last year and no problems...

The argument is pretty much moot anyway, they're both ****e compared to HID

Another vote for Nightbreakers - have had them on the SV for 3 months with no problems and a fair bit brighter, but if you can stretch to it HID is the way forward!

Think I might just get Philips Extremes rather than a hole HID conversion which will set me back over 100quid prob. Plus do you need two kits?

Try this -some of these guys may know. To be fair, the only problems I have with headlights on the SV are those shining at me in the rain. I also have a C90 - with a 25/25 bulb! That's just bloody silly.

The Philips Extreme are recommended in Ride magazine this month.

The problem with HID kits are that they need to be fitted properly else they are illegal, plus the cost of course.

If anyone wants bulbs from Halfords and lives in Sussex I regularly borrow the father in laws trade card when I buy things. The last time I bought bulbs from halfords was for the indicators on a car and they cost something stupid like 69p instead of £5.

Unless you're fitting e marked light units to replace the entire reflector they're definitely illegal

As for the cost, prices are dropping all the time, the increase in light output is well worth it IMO, not to mention the increased bulb lifetime offsetting the initial cost to some extent...

Also, aftermarket HID bulbs are not e-marked so aftermarker kits are generally always illegal.
