I wouldn't mind them so much if they were played in tune with one another to create an atmosphere, but they all just play them randomly which just equals noise basically!

I'm not sure which I'd prefer to hear, the drone, or the great escape a million times!
Or maybe just no football......ahhh much better!

The problem with banning them now is...it's too late! FIFA tried to ban them about a year ago after the confed cup but it was deemed to be "okay" for the world cup.

The thing is though that the vuvuzela is as much a part (and has been for many years) of football in South Africa and most of Southern Africa as singing and chanting is to European football. Taking the vuvu away now would cause more problems than it would solve. I suggest if you don't like it, then turn the volume down on the telly and listen to some music.

and you'd have 50+ million safricans going absoluting bonkers... listening to the vuvuzela is the safer option

Exactly, compared to the football hooligans we export all over the world I think everyone has got a cheek to complain about the vuvuzela.

I find the noise annoying - but I can't see what can be done.

They're even more annoying than those bloody annoying air-horns people take to race meetings.

Sounds like crap, doesn't add the positive atmosphere that chants or music does to a game, unlike other sounds it sounds worse the more there are and it's so loud that it negatively affects some players, managers and commentators. I cannot see any reason for keeping the Vuvuzela that trumps the ones mentioned in this thread. Although my reasons are subjective, there are objective reasons too. The vuvuzela produces enough noise to cause hearing damage to those up to 2 metres away from the "instrument".

Ban it Fifa, I beg you please

Having said that, it is part of South African football tradition and as they say, when in Rome do as the Romans do so maybe we should let it stay for this world cup at least and ban it from future ones in other countries.
