this is what i have been told, not what i have seen for my self
but as the person that i work with has been doing damper for 10 years i would go with that he's saying and hay at the end of the day he doesn't need to prove any thing considering he has such clients as the whole F2 grid, sebah LMP1 24hour cars, so i don't see why he would bad mouthing other companies for no reason so far what i have seen he's been right about but hey what do i know .... |

Repeating such things verbatim as fact is where bullsh*t wives tales come from, and there are enough of them in suspension work anyway.
May I suggest you take time to understand such claims a little more before repeating them. I can tell you with all honesty that IF penske have/had problems with valve shim tolerances they are not something that will be noticed from a riders perspective. Maybe it is something before my time too. Penske send you out a damper dyno chart with every new shock build and I don't see any problems in those. Regarding "hey what do I know", your opinion is welcome, but I like penske shocks, I like their after sales, their simplicity and excellent adaptability and build quality... I am not closed minded to other facts but I have an interest in servicing and fitting these shocks for people so if you are going to call them a product with problems then you'd best be capable of backing it up with more substance than "my mate says...".

Nice convo there ladies.
Anyway, regarding the "its hydraulic" thing, its got to be the simplest hydraulics you can design, you turn a screw which moves hydraulic fluid to the preload ring (or whatever the preload adjuster ring thing is called) which in turn compresses the spring thus increasing pre load. That is not hard to do complicated or anything else. infact the only possible issue I can think they might have is a good enough seal to stop the preload dropping randomly, and christ that cant cost them £300 to make a good seal... Oh well. Cheers anyway dude! |
