Back to the subject of insurance I doubt that no company will touch them its just that they will cost a little more. Which is a shame as if I were to own one (and occasionally I live dangerously with a combination of late nights, alcohol and eBay) I would have the 750 from the mid 2000's.
Get down your local dealer and see if they've got one in.
All jap 1000's look the same, but this ones been through a decent spray shop (everything is pearl paint with the white having a blue in it) and had an accident if a big box of Yoshimura part (about £2,000's worth)

Generous Andrew,

I know he's an orger but you shouldn't go offering over the odds like that.

This sounds very similar to the Fireblade situation in the mid 90's. No bike will ever be uninsurable, it's just that some insurers just don't want to insure certain types of bikes and certain 'categories' of riders. For instance, I had a quote on Compare The Market recently for a GSXR 750 SRAD (97 I think) and the cheapest quote was around £400, while the most expensive was almost 10k. Basically those companies are telling you to do one. Some companies do even refuse to quote outright. Can you imagine the uproar though if insurance companies refused to insure arguably the UK's most poplular sportsbike outright though? Never going to happen.

Maybe you could talk to him and see if he can possibly sort out an ORG discount?

I'm not hopeful that being a part of a forum makes a person a safer bet

That wasn't the idea. Giving a forum member discount means the members are far more likely to use that particular company meaning more money for them.
