exactly what i'm saying! if rossi did something else you would have sete, haydon, max, barros, melandri, capparossi ect all winning in diffrent races now that would be close!
sete was rossi's greatest rival but look whos in second MELANDRI.
if you look at who comes second all the time its not always sete,it could be anyone of them COLIN EDWARDS as evan been there! if rossi was'nt racing then the texas tornado would have won that!

I didn't criticise Rossi once, and I'm not criticising him. I 100% agree that the problem lies in the other riders not being quick enough, all I'm saying is that competitive racing is good racing and having one rider at the top who has little competition isn't as exciting to watch as a season where 5 guys are fighting to win the championship.

I've got nothing against Rossi whatsoever.

Havent seen the last two races in MotoGP, but i have heard that this rossi guy is a tad special

However i did catch the last 15 laps of F1 today, and its was an eventful race thats for sure. Old Micky Schumacer aint doing to good this season, which is good.

Anhoo, back to the bikes.....

Logically, that can only mean one of two things: either a rider - or indeed his machine - can win the Championship once and then he's out, or, if he or the bike looks like being any good, he can't enter at all!

Errr...hello? Racing is to find THE BEST. When you're the best, it's for others to take the crown away, not some crazy regulation!

I want to see Kelly Holmes win the 1500/800 metres, not the girl next door running against the fat lass from up the road! I want to see Motivator win The Derby - not watch Dobbin the Donkey race Muffin the Mule on Southport Sands! And I want to see the riders in MotoGP get good enough to beat Rossi - or move over and let some others try.

And do you know what? It's what those riders want too - the chance to beat the best, not just beat some second rate kid whose Dad bought the ride (like F1).

What tosh is written sometimes, Gibernau led the race for most of the 25 laps, he made a bad tyre decision, and Rossi chose the right tyre, as did Melandri.

In the first 5 riders home there was less than 8 seconds between them and less than a minute for all the field

As for Schumacher, and F1, if second & third on the podium is not doing very well, maybe you should put your money where your mouth is and have a go

I'm starting to worry about MotoGP a bit now though... Rossi could skip the next 2 races and still be ahead... if he keeps going at this rate then he'll have won the whole thing in a few more races...

Last year Sete was so much closer, though I guess back then he had an easier set of choices (not inundated with every Honda part going, which is his own fault as he spent last year moaning that if he'd had the parts he could have beat Rossi...) and also that Rossi was new to the bike. Now there's little chance of anyone else winning unless Rossi has some major problems... and when has he EVER had those??

I'm not convinced it'll be better if Rossi leaves though... the others will always be compared to him, and how gutting will it be for Sete and Co. to know that the only reason they're winning more is cos the big man got bored and moved on.

Rossi is a bit like Obi-Wan in episode 4 right now... if he has a terrible accident and gets wiped out, or just finishes up the season and leaves, every other GP rider will be compared to (and fail to measure up to) him forever more...

Why would it mean that at all? In recent history I can't think of any rider who has dominated to the extent Rossi is at the moment. I'm not for one second suggesting there should be artificial restrictions put in to limit the success of excellent rider/machine combinations, as is the case with touring cars these days. My idea of motorsport as its best basically what you've said - the best man winning, at the end of the day. But not only that, I want to see them really have to fight for the championship, I want to see it go down to the last corner of the last race because that's exciting to watch. I'm not even saying yesterdays race was boring - I enjoyed it. I'm glad SVeeedy Gonzales sees what I'm on about though, it's no fun to see a championship decided with loads of races left to go.

If the season could carry on where Jerez started off, with Gibernau and Rossi riding brilliantly and with nothing between the two riders, then I would be a very happy man.

Looking at the results from yesterday it would seem that Ferrari did very well, and both drivers did drive well. However they were only on the podium because Alonso, Button, Trulli, Montoya and Fisichella dropped out of the race. It was an artificial result in a sense, and you only need to look at the constructors championship, where Ferrari are in fifth place, to see that the red cars are having real difficulty being competitive this year.
