Perhaps.
I am currently cursing the house that jack built. The room I am refurbiing is the front bedroom and contains a bay window. The plaster below the window where the bay joins the main room at either end was badly cracked. So I chipped it away and brick behind moves. So I end up removing about 6 bricks either end of the bay that are mortered in with dust and held in place by the plaster. Well no problem I just need to rebuild a little bit of brick work. rip off the skirting to find this wall is actually built on top of the flooring that needs replacing. what sort of cowboy builds brick walls ontop of floor boards. So waiting for profession advise. Do I rip down the wall and rebuild it off the joists or do I replace it with a stud wall. Guess studding is easier and quicker but as the outer wall in this bay is simply pvc cladding I need to ensure an element of insualtion, draft proofing etc. Why do simply jobs become major projects?

looks like the whole estate is built like this. Typical 1950s housing, little or no inspection and pressure to supply new housing to the masses. Talking to a neighbour about this and he said that one of his dividing walls had been built with the bricks turned onto their faces so that it would require less brick.
Went back to look at my bodge up and quess how the bricks have been layed?. As it is none structural my surveyor says it is not unusual for a house of period. and to stud it as it will be slightly less weight.
