Yes it will work on your K3 - basically its a 1/5 turn throttle tube instead of a 1/4 turn as per the standard SV so all you are doing is pulling the thottle cable further at the carb for the same travel on the bar...? I thnk that makes sense!

You do need to trim the tube slightly!!!!!.

We have them fitted onto our SV650 race bikes. Without trimming the throttle wont open fully and it can miss the stop and jam.

Yup, you're right, you don't need it... I think "quick action" is a bit of a misnomer, because as you say you could just move your hand faster. For me the benefit is short action, not quick- you need less wrist action for the same results. I found I was shifting my hand a lot on the grip, since there was no position where I could comfortably go from closed to wide open without "clutching" my hand. That's not such a thing now. I like it...

It's surprising though, just how much of a difference it makes. I'm not convinced you can move your hand fast enough with a standard throttle to beat the R6 tube. And at the price...

We use them on our race bikes mainly due to the fact that the std throttle has an awfully long travel on it. When your on the stop 90% of the time it means your hand is right the way round the throttle and when you come to brake you have to spin your hand round to do so with the throttle fully shut.

We noticed that without cutting the tube (i cant remember exactly where it has to be cut) that it doesnt open the throttle bodies fully. We found this after investigating why my bike suddenly lost 6 BHP on the dyno!!.

Beware though if your trimming throttle tubes be careful because if you go too far it can stop it closing!.

I'm assuming that *not* cutting it will only cut a few bhp off my top end power/speed, and can't jam anything?

Yet by cutting it *too far* I might then make it able to jam, yes?

It's tempting to leave it as it is because
a) I am lazy and can't be arsed to take a few minutes to modify it and
b) It feels so much better, and I couldn't tell what a 6bhp difference felt like if it bit me on the backside.

But we'll see how the weekend goes. Modifying the thing could just come down to whether it's raining or not....
