Got to agree with most of the above, just a note that not all Suzukis have the same finish. BUT look after any of them and keep the crap off them and they will all weather very well.

Does seem odd that there are some here that will jump on the chance to rubbish the SV at every opportunity. For those that have them, use them and continue to enjoy them, just keep them protected from the salt. Just use a bucket or low pressure hose pipe.

sv's are build cheaply hence flaky paint and corrosion but i still love them that's why i just got another one, that's 3 in the garage at the mo

And a cracking choice of bike sir Look after it, and it should look after you. I'd love another SV but just cannot afford one or justify it.

have used a power washer (jet wash) for over 3 years now and the bike is spotless

makes sense not to blast electrics/bearings/loose paint/radiator fins etc but used carefully, cant think of any reason not to use one

is ace for hard to reach bits on the engine as well as bike has lower fairings on it
