Very generous of you Matt. Shimano chain rings are standard enough I think, or at least they were, up till you hit Dura Ace.

No Drops for you then? Oh well. Horses for courses what?
Emm. I still rate the Giant frame over the others though. That was my reason for picking it. It is a good frame. I think you will be happy with it. Its sort of the bottom of a very good line of frames, meaning that much of the dev that went into the super frame is carried through into the cheapest one.

Emm. Yeah, re 2008 models, yeah, wait for them, and then buy a 2007 model . I got about $500 off my last bike because it was like just sooooo last years model.
Coolio. Thanks pal.

And Kwak... those saddles are much more comfortable than the SV's. I would spend 5 hours a day, 5/6 days a week with out the slightest difficulty all spring and summer.
They design the saddle to fit your body.
Unlike Mr Suzuki, who sticks a bit of foam on the bike for you, with no support whatsoever.

On my SV I am uncomfortable after 2 or 3 hours.

Matt thanks for the offer thats really kind of you however...

I struggle because I'm a pussy and my leg strength isnt what it was, I just need get stronger at climbing and then I'll whup his ar*e. I dont know what the inner ring is, I think its a 39 already...

I did quite convincingly drop the guys I cycle with on a quite a steep climb on the way home last night, so I'm getting there.

I've gotta say I dont like flat bars, I can never get comfy, I prefer the drops. I spend most of the time like Philipmac on the brake hoods.

Just thought I would resurrect this thread as I have now made a decision

Going to go for one of these (probably in natural carbon rather than blue) , £1k for ultegra gears, triple chainring, full carbon frame & forks and FLATBARS (sorry guys).

Planet X haven't built their Superlight Carbon Pro frame up into a flat bar yet, so it could be very interesting for them and me

mmmm veerrryyyy nice. I'm a definate fan of planet X bikes. Will be getting one as soon as my flat sale goes through, although i like the drop bars. Whats shifters are you getting with it as the ultegra ones are extremely expensive and for the same price i';d expect the best MTB style ones

Planet X?
Huh. Never heard of them. They look nice...

Good luck with the bike anyway! Keep the miles coming...

edit.... can you just use MTB shifters with road mechs then? Hmm. I never thought about that. They just have to change the shifters, nothing more?

Chunky - have seen a couple of posts from you on one of the forums (Bikeradar???) - thought it was no coincidence and there could only be one Chunky letters

Shifters will be Ultegra flat bar shifters - for the same money, I can get drop bars with 105 gears/sti levers

AFAIK it is just a change of shifters, along with a longer stem. They have said they will fit V brakes which might be interesting as the frames don't appear to have the mounting points?!

Have a look at the website - they do some very nice bikes, especially TT bikes and wheels.
