I drove past it a couple of days ago, still there and still bent. Funnily enough there is also still shards of plastic on the verge and your broken wing mirror on the other side in the grass!!!!

But surely it will be higher than what it would have been, even if both would be lower than what you paid last time?

Will the current policy terminate on a total loss? I know it was discussed but don't recall if you mentioned your policy terms. How long did you have left on your policy?

Ah, was it? If it terminates on a total loss then that's still time on cover that you've lost (this isn't the same as the insurance period argument earlier just in case someone asks lol). I guess I'm just saying, the payout seems pretty good, but it could be an illusion that it's turned out better than not having crashed/claimed...when you factor in the need to re-cover 44 weeks, and the premium increase (not over the previous year, but over what would have been otherwise paid) - and that's for 3 years too...

Yes, getting a quote now costs about 10% more than it would be if I didn't have a claim on my record, but because the KTM has two years NCB coming up, and this time I don't have to find a company that'll insure it on the frame number, it means that I can get quotes of about the same price as last year on it, with zero NCB, if I choose to do so, at the moment I'm pensive about taking it on the road because of the way it demands to be ridden (ie: too fast, with only one wheel in traction at any given time...).

All that means I can shift the 2yrs NCB to my new bike here, which combined with being through the magic "2 years experience" means quotes are now 25-30% less on identical bikes than they were 8 weeks ago, even with a claim on my record...

Yes, i expect them to cancel the policy and get no refund, but that's a given, they fulfil their part of the contract and that's all they have to do. I never said I was expecting to come out ahead in this, so it doesn't bother me if i have to insure another 675, or something else, or even just let the moeny sit and decided what to do next. I treat insurance as a running cost like fuel or tyres, money that's gone and you're not going to get back...

I don't think you specifically said you were going to come out ahead chap - I think it's just the general vibe/impression that was given out. I was just saying it's maybe not the case...

Re: them cancelling the contract, yes it's part of the deal, yes it's a given, etc - but at the same time you've increased your 'insurance running costs' from 'X for 52 weeks' to 'X for 8 weeks'. That's all I was pointing out there - which you seem to realise anyway...

I understand that completely, but insurance is small fish next to the amounts of money involved in buying/selling/crashing bikes, provided it's not going to cost a fortune for the next 5 years then it's not a big consideration
