I prefer a slight variation. After you have been over quernmoor and get to Caton, turn left then next right and go over the Lune at Crook O lune. Then take the next right up to the Nether Kellet road and turn right, hoon as fast as you can through to Arkholme then onto Kirby Stephen. I find the A683 through Hornby and Melling over policed, over caged etc.

Lots of interesting variations to get north of Preston, I like to do the Slaidburn then past stocks to Keasdon, also over Jeffery, then drop down through Whitewell, towards Dunsop Bridge and down to Quernmoor to Caton and onwards.
