I guess so! Darn good tyre in my opinion - I can't see me using anything different whilst I have this bike.

I thought that because I had a GSXR I had to put sporty tyres on it. I had Corsa III's and then I fitted Z6's for the Ecosse trip. TBH Pete I can't tell the difference between the two when its dry and warm, but my goodness can I tell the difference when its wet and cold. Z6's are so much more confidence inspiring. But this might be down to my head and just rider preference.

I'd have thought with the miles that you and Lissa do you go through tyres pretty quickly so I would have thought the extra milleage you'll gain from the sport touring tyres would be a benefit no ? Also with going through them quickly if you dont like how the Duke feels you'll be able to change to something else in a reasonable amount of time.

That's true Fizz, but in actuality one set of tyres lasts us 7/8k miles 2rears and 1 front. That's a long time to not be enjoying the rubber. Yes the extra mileage would obviously suit us, got those service bills to consider now, plus the added convenience of less changes so might go ST next change. I've posted up a thread asking about this on Ducatisti. Imagine they'll all suggest gold plated tyres.

Lets be honest, I can only remember one totally dry ride out last year, yet I think nearly all but one I went on had some degree of water, either on the road already or raining. On that basis, I can't see how you would gain that much benefit from a set of sporty tyres (unless doing trackdays).

I have heard a number of comments from peeps on ride outs along the lines of "man when we came through that wet part my back end was all over the place", yet you talk to those with tyres such as Avon Storms and they keep up with peeps in the dry no problem and have far less issues in damp / wet.

Just think with modern UK road conditions and weather as they are and I know you like riding all year Ed, that a set of sports touring tyres would be better, IMHO of course. People seem to buy a sports bike and naturally assume that sports tyres are the way to go. Like LP and a number of others, use Avons following his and DizzyB's recomendation and it was the best single bit of advice I have ever had. + as a bonus they seem to be cheaper.

I bet they're not talking about their bike though - they're talking about their **** clenching cos they think they're gonna drop the bike!

I hold my hand up

Thank you everyone for all your very constructive suggestions. I don't need the expensive stuff and I don't like the rear end slides have had with the current tyre. I know that some really like Supercorsas but I'm afraid I don't.

*wanders off to google Avon storms and other similar rubber*

I have Michelin Pilot Road 2's on the SV

I have Avon Storm ST's on the Zed.

Thinking I will try Roadsmarts next time, but only because I want to try something out - nothing wrong with either of the 2 I have tried tho.
