Sigh. Can we start sending the following information to all new joiners when they sign up? If I had a pound for the number of times I've typed it.

Your speedo over reads by about 10 percent, at 135 subtract 13.5mph. From memory I think a stock SV hitting the rev limiter in 6th gear would be doing 138mph (absolute theroetical maximum if there was no wind resistance, weight or anything) , but as there are all those things it can't get anywhere near the rev limiter in 6th. Max speed for an SV is about 125 mph.

Keeps your speed down and saves you pinging speed cameras by accident. So you can't blame the manufacturer for travelling faster than you thought you were. Almost all speedos deliberately over read by about 5 or 10% (except calibrated such as in cop cars). The only one I've ever known to under-read is my XT600, it's under by about 6% I reckon it's just knackered.

Have you got a sat nav? Or a smartphone with a GPS that you can download a speedo app? Check your speedo with it, you'll find that (approximately) 30mph on the GPS is 33 on your speedo, 40 = 44, 50 = 55, 60 = 66 and so on. 90 = 99, 100 = 110 and yep, 121.5 = 135
