When I had a hire bike, in the small print was something about lost earnings from it...
i.e. if I broke it, I would have to pay to get it fixed, as well as any money they could have made off it when it was off the road being fixed....

Didnt stop me wheelying the bugger though

All I ended up with was a bloody naked K3 SV... which made me glad mine was a faired one at the time Now I have moved on to Greener things

Took bike back tonight so they can have a look at it

Needs :

Tank, new rear brake lever, RHS indicator, Bar End and Pillion Grab rail are scuffed.

Had a chat with the manger and they are going to do all this at cost prices and minimum labour as I am such a good customer and they dont wanna upset me and loose my business.

They are going to try and repair the tank, if they can rather than fit a new one.

They are letting me keep the loan bike whilst they've got mine and are going to ring me tomorrow with a price for new disks, the pads have got about 2000 miles left in them so I am getting those done at the same time.

I can honestly say I totally recommend gonig to V & J Suzuki in Mudford, they are fantastic

Seriously though, that is rotten luck. I was going to suggest just filling and spraying the tank. There is no justifiable need to get it replaced if there's only a small dent.

Was it parked somewhere with a rising slope to the left? This would bring the C of G closer to upright.

1) Suzuki claim the same dry weight for both
2) can be rectified with a few hours work and a set of K3 intake cams. The power difference is almost entirely in the cams, not the fuel injection- so swapping the intake cams and putting yours inthe exhaust side will make your curvy model more powerful than an injected one. £130 including gaskets.

The man said that the K5 is the superior bike.

And I for one believe him I don't think any more discussion is needed here

Out of the box it is... It should be, it's an evolved version. I'm very fond of the curvy SV but the injected one, stock, is IMO the better bike.

But y'see, it costs far less to take a carbed model and upgrade it massively past what a stock K5 can offer, than it does to buy a new K5. Look at mine, not sure exactly what I've spent on it but the main parts- engine, suspension, bit of bodywork) and the bike itself could be done for under £4k quite easily.

O'course, much of the same goes for a K3 over a K5, though it's a bit harder to squeeze easy power out of the FI models.

I didnt know about the weight thing, OK let me rephrase that, it feels lighter and I personally think its easier to push it around.

Cams thing is a good idea, now only if I was mechanical enough to do it

I think the main thing for me is I prefer the riding position to the curvey.

Oh dear what have I started
