It's all about getting things in proportion in my view. These people are basically driving in a bus lane, and yes they should'nt be doing it,but firing a hydraulic ram at them?
Joyriders steal a vehicle, drive it like lunatics, have no insurance or license, and sometimes kill and maim others, but the police are reluctant to pursue them in case the pursuit results in an accident.Somewhere here we have got our priorities wrong.
The bollards should have a failsafe system built in so they can't turn themselves into weapons, and those who infringe the closed road can easily be nicked for it without violence. As I said before,I say that having seen the result of an accident with one of these bollards causing pointless injury.

The first shot of the signs is misleading here - this is the view from the Deansgate end of town. The ones shown in the video are on the other side.
Eh? Surely someone who is supposedly a member of IAM would be paying attention to the road signs, as well as ensuring they are able to stop in the distance they know to be clear?

Hardly it, you make it sound like its a freaking missle fired at them, it's well sign posted, it's a restricted area to certain vehicals not just a bus lane, from the video ALL these people are KNOWINGLY trying their luck, they are not victims.

Again hardly, the only 'weapon' here is these people's retarded brains. They're stupid, and they aren't affraid to use it People sometimes call these kind of videos 'accidents', they're not, they are purposeful, there is no accident about driving at something at speed that you know it's primary purpose is to stop you.

Why don't you tell us the story of the accident you experienced, how did that person get injured by one?

The one I experienced was a police car on it's way to an accident on the motorway. It was using an access road for emergency vehicles protected by one of these bollards.Several vehicles including two ambulances and another police car used the access point but the hydraulic ram came up under one of the police cars causing injury to the occupants.I don't know the result of the police investigation that followed, but the bollards are no longer there.
In the vid it was the passenger who bullseyed the windscreen, not the driver who ignored the signs.

The comments make interesting reading. It seems like most local people are in favour of keeping them.
