Default Re: There's a few GSX-R owners here ...

I have now had two people on the back of the gixer and it felt very different with both.

First was my mate who I dropped off at a bike shop in Brum, we only went about 4 miles but it was horrible - I hated it. He weighs about 12.5 stone and the back end just sank! I didn't bother altering the suspension or anything cos it was only a short one-off. Front end very very light even on gentle (relatively!) accelaration and it was so slow to steer compared to normal. He went pillion once on the SV and it was easier on that.

My wife on the back was ok. She weighs about 9 stone and it was much better, it was obviously different but not nearly as much of a change. She preferred the seating position to the SV cos she says you can see more making it more interesting and she thought it was a smoother ride than the SV, possibly cos of the relative lack in engine braking making the difference - it was only a short trip in urban area with lots of traffic lights etc so it was quite stop-start. She likes it better than the SV overall although she said she wouldn't fancy the idea of more than about half an hour at a time on it!

I think I'm gonna get one of those akro's when they come out - I'll have a word with the dealer I got the bike from cos he can get anything in (so he claims!) and I'll see what price he could get one in and fit it for. Just hope it doesn't make my premium too much higher next year!

Interestingly, I have now had my proper insurance certificate through and although I have got the £99 insurance deal this year it gives a premium of about £490. I'm going to use this as ammo next year when they give me my renewal quote and see what they say! Anyone else got their certificate from Express insurance and noticed this?

Cheers,
Matt

Cool, would be interesting to see if your dealer can get one in any quicker than 24th July - that was through the UK Akrapovic importer (and 24th is their next delivery date from Akrapovic). I am trying my best to forget about it for the month, the waiting drives me crazy!

p.s. I didn't do the insurance deal, I got subsidised insurance instead (don't have a garage so couldn't do it).
