It`s really more about the elasticity of the Leather and how it is stitched , will it give a bit of Stretch when it hits the ground and will the seams hold up ? , years ago BKS used to be made out of Kangaroo hide as it was quite elastic .

Frank thomas have bought out some 3 letter firm (think it is bks then actually) and Lewis aswell.
