I think the bikes run a bit rich from stock, so when you change the exhaust, it leans it out slightly to be nearer the ideal, hence might put a couple of bhp on. Why is it this way? I can imagine the manufacturers tune it slightly on the safe side - might be to cope with different fuels. Anyone got any better ideas? Feel free to tell me i'm talking cobblers.

On the other subject of why throw money at an sv and not go out and buy a ss600? How many ss600's are V twin, for starters. I don't really want to ride everywhere in third gear either. I use my bike everyday so don't want something temperamental from Italy. I would quite like my bike to be individual and not the same as all the other gixxers, ninja's etc.

you would normally dave but for full measure fit a full bigger bore exhaust system too from the exhaust ports to the can, SV's breathe better with a full hindle system (for example) fitted, BMC filter and power commander for a decent remap on a dyno - ours makes 72 BHP with a nice smooth power curve, improved torque, but could achieve more outside minitwin rules.

I brought my SV to learn about bikes, both riding and taking to bits and putting back together again, it's a hobby for me. I had a pointy before and made that look really nice but this curvy is more about what's underneath and learning about that (just a bit).

I completely agree. Only thing I've done to mine is a double bubble screen, some paint, and a can for different sound. |

It was putting out just shy of 72bhp. Was told it was expected to be around 65bhp so was quite happy with that as the only mod it had at the time was the exhaust system. Probably running a bit leaner still with the air filter but to be honest I haven't noticed a difference with it.

The following parts increase performance relative to the previous parts, which may or may not have worn out...
Taller screen (better flow of air, so increases perofmrance...) Fuel exhaust (cured some low-end fueling problems, nice) hagon rear shock (old one was knackered) avon tyres (far better than the bt021's, i perform better with them, so they are a performance mod) goodridge braided front brake lines ( help a little with initial bite, but no substitute for a good overhaul of the brakes) heated grips (keep my hands warm in the winter so i can keep riding properly) as for the point of tuning a bike which many cant get omre than 80 bhp without some serious meddling...well, its for a bit of un isnt it? Why did people buy RC45's when they could get a GSXR750 for much cheaper, and it was faster in stock trim? because you can Last edited by Alpinestarhero; 01-01-10 at 08:48 PM. |

You can get 85 without getting too serious. It's keeping motor in one piece that is ticklish bit
