because you said a few years ago i thought you meant 2002, but seeing as we are in 2007 now even 2004 is a few years ago too!. Of course i knew he raced a powerbike in 2004 but didnt realise you meant then. He only raced it for a few rounds, Brands, Cadwell and Snetterton, he then had a big accident at Brands and broke his hand very badly. Then changed to a minitwin that year to finish the season.

There are plenty of minitwin spec bikes in the Thunderbikes, one that constantly finished in the top 3. Even Rob W who has a similar spec bike as mine didnt go much faster than he did the previous year on his minitwin, showing that even a minitwin spec bike is well capable of winning a Thunderbike race and getting into 51's at Brands.

Just goes to show how damn good the SV is even in simple trim.

So you would still have plenty of people on a level playing field to race against in the class, some are even on motards, so plenty to play with

You didn't answer my question about your bikes mods!! What have you done and could you convert it back??

I know its possible to do 51s on a minitwin spec as they were the minitwins lap records I quoted!!! My point was that if they are the lap records, (regardless if I would ever be capable of hitting the lap record), I'd be dreaming a bit if I thought I could hit them on my spec bike, on a bike I have never used under race conditions, at tracks I have never ridden it at AND after a layoff! Although they are the lap records, looking at the results a 52 should be right up there on a minitwin ... with 53s I am still in the game. These would be more realistic goals …

Unless you have a minitwin spec bike and accompany me in minitwins (MRO preferably as we can qualify) we will be proving nothing ... even if you brought yours down to minitwins spec, yours would still be top-end spec, mine bottom-end :P

Probably, but it'd be a terrible shame

I would never consider converting it back... .. in fact when it comes time to sell at the end of this year there certainly will be tears in my eyes...

I wouldnt worry about lap records...you would still have plenty of people on minitwin spec bikes to beat..a friend of mine was on one and he still managed to beat plenty of quicker bikes. If your quick enough it doesnt matter what bike your on...

lap record for the Thunderbikes at Brands is 51.1 and that was set by a SS400!!

Stop making excuses and looking into it too deeply just get out there and enjoy it!

I have nothing to prove to myself … I know what is ‘me’ and what is ‘the bike’, I also know what it is like to compete on an inferior bike … I used to race in Powerbikes on a 600 for goodness sake (with some degree of success too I might add ).

I want to do minitwins .. that is my desire, I fancy knowing what it is like to race a bike where the regs are tight and my wallet doesn’t massively come into play (I always ran a very small budget, which in 600s is a massive disadvantage), if you want to flex your muscles, you need to borrow/build a minitwins spec bike and join me as I am not going to spend my money competing in a class I have no interest in ... hell, how about this, if you don't want to convert yours I’ll let you ride my #2 bike, which will be the same spec as my #1!! No excuses either way then

You still haven’t told me the spec of yours :P

Blimey!..your quite a cross person and taking this tittle tattle and banter far too seriously. If you have nowt to prove then why get so hung up on whether your going to be competitive enough. Im am only winding you up afterall!

Just get out there and race god damn it..no more pondering just come and do it..regardless of whether your with me..just do the minitwins...anyway..racing is all about fun afterall.

And no i have no inclination to ride anyone elses bike thank you as i have nowt to prove plus riding other peoples bikes can be fraught with problems as i wouldnt want to write someone else pride and joy off..seen friends do that and its not a good situation to be in

I just find what you are saying condescending … why do you do that?! :P

Racing isn’t ‘fun’, its about personal goals!! I never enjoyed racing, I just got great rewards/self satisfaction if I did well!! (I also got very grumpy if I underperformed! ). I quit as I had achieved all I could with the funding I had, I was still beating my personal lap records, but by 10ths, I was at the top of my curve with that bike and I didn't have the funds to upgrade … I had answered all my own questions other than “What could I do if I had unlimited time and funds?!” So I was therefore just ploughing money into it and putting myself at risk … and what’s the point in that?!?

I have already proven that I can ride round Brands and Snett (and probably all tracks if we were to look ) faster than you (the results are there for anyone too see), but on a different spec bike … therefore it is pretty meaningless … we would need like for like.

If I enter a race in 07 it will be for my reasons, so will do what I want to do (minitwins) … I’ll meet your challenge, but its you that will have to be flexible! :P That is unless you are too yella to take me on!!

Why are you not spelling out the spec of your bike!?!?

eh? chill out!. .

I race for fun...i cant understand someone doing it and not enjoying it!. Even chatting with the likes of Leon Haslam he said he wouldnt race if he didnt enjoy it even though he is getting paid to do so!.

TBH if i finish last, yes i get cross with myself but i still enjoy being out there.

One thing you should learn is that no matter who you are someone is always going to be quicker, its often ex racers or non racers who follow a trait of trying to prove themselves constantly to others. Current racers dont blag on about it so much!. Condesending, nope..just factual about life!.

And i thought you had nothing to prove!.

The spec of my bike...does it matter that much to you?. Your not going to race Thunderbikes anyway.!...come on my rod is almost bent in two!
